Carmona’s brothers and mother travelled to New Zealand for the World Cup group stage but then returned to Spain. The family arrived in Australia Saturday night to cheer on the Real Madrid fullback at the final.
After the match, she told Spanish broadcasters: “First, I would like to thank the mother of one of my closest friends, who recently died, for this victory and this achievement. I celebrated her goal with the shirt she wore and I dedicate it to all of my family.
